Position Summary
The Graphic Design Specialist serves as a key contributor to the marketing and communications initiatives of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences ( CAES), delivering innovative and strategic visual solutions across digital and print platforms. This position is responsible for creating compelling digital content for web, social media, email marketing, and immersive storytelling platforms, while also supporting traditional print collateral and event needs, including project management, print production, vendor contact and bidding, release of files, pre-press proofing. This position is artistic in nature and requires originality and talent with a quality portfolio. This role will incorporate the college's communication strategies into innovative and engaging visual presentations that are consistent within the framework and standards established by CAES and the UGA Central Marketing and Communications Office.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Exceptional design instinct and visual aesthetic.
  • Capacity to think strategically and work independently in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong understanding of cross-platform design, digital asset optimization, and content marketing best practices.
  • Experience with task management platforms like Asana.
  • Expert user of Macintosh platform.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues independently.
  • Superior knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and print production process.
  • Superior project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrable effort to stay current on design trends, emerging technologies, accessibility standards, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Familiarity with Canva and basic HTML/CSS.

Creating Branded Collateral

  • Responsible for creating compelling branded digital and print content including but not limited to Shorthand pages (or similar immersive storytelling platforms), WordPress pages, advertisements, infographics, multi-page print documents, illustrations, signage, and promotional materials such as brochures, posters, event signage, and annual reports.
  • Meets with external requestors to understand their design and creative needs.
  • Outputs can include printed, digital and web graphics, banner ads, and more.
  • Archives projects upon completion.

Duties/Responsibilities
Project Management

  • Manages coordination of multiple assigned, concurrent design projects with varying timelines and complexities in Asana (or similar project management tool as determined by OMC leadership).
  • Communicates in a timely manner on project deadlines and progress to team members and leadership.
  • Participates in team meetings and ideation, and collaborates well in group settings.
  • Communicates with external collaborators to assess needs, define objectives, and ensure timely, on-brand deliverables. Occasionally attends CAES-related events to ensure developed materials meet current needs.

  • Manages the coordination with print vendors and acts as a point of contact for external collaborators on printing inquiries and press-proofing for high-touch projects.
  • Oversees print production processes: vendor selection and coordination, bidding, file release, pre-press proofing, and quality assurance.
