We are seeking a Project Manager to serve as the Study Lead for our Lift 2 project at Rio Tinto's Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia. This pivotal project focuses on expanding the underground block cave operations to unlock one of the world's largest known copper and gold deposits. This multi-billion dollar project entails development of the next production level, constructing new shafts and underground infrastructure, and implementing advanced mining technologies to enhance both efficiency and safety.

You will take accountability for designing the Oyu Tolgoi of the future by formulating our decisions for growth and bringing together experts from across the business to turn our opportunities into real options.

Reporting to General Manager, APAC and Project Shaping based in Brisbane, Australia, and working as part of a dynamic and exciting team, you will:

  • Work with internal stakeholders in preparing the study execution plan and related deliverables.

  • Take responsibility for the study budget, schedule, and progress by coordinating and tracking study activities to align with the objectives and plan, and reporting as required.

  • Work with RT Projects in relation to the execution-related deliverables, as well as implementing sound study management practices which optimize decision-making, record keeping, project controls, and team communications.

  • Manage internal governance and approvals to move the study through review and study stage gates.

  • Support operational relations with external stakeholders to negotiate criteria which enable the advancement of the study towards a successful outcome for all parties.

What you will bring:

  • Proven project manager experienced in study management study project phases

  • Exposure to underground mining, sub-surface projects and/or complex major infrastructure projects

  • Technical expertise with the ability to translate complex technical information from multiple sources into clear objectives

  • Proven leadership experience with effective influencing and negotiation skills

  • You will also be passionate about delivering pragmatic solutions and have a natural curiosity, drive for results, and appetite for constructive challenge and risk-based creative thinking
