Accountable to the Board of Directors, the Executive shall serve as CEO of the corporation and its entities, in addition to the specific duties and responsibilities set forth herein, shall perform the duties customarily performed by CEOs in similar and comparable organizations subject to the ultimate direction of the Boards of Directors of the corporation and its entities.

Education

Master's Degree or other advanced degree, e.g. MD, DO

Experience

10-15 years of relevant experience in the health care field with 10 + years in leadership

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assures to the maximum extent possible the overall satisfactory functioning of the HealthCare System and ensures that the Directors are fully and timely informed about plans, progress and financial conditions, risks and issues.
  • Serves as the direct representative and primary agent of the Board of Directors and chief spokesman for the organization, to formulate, administer and effect all major HealthCare System policies, procedures, structures and programs in order to implement the general policies established by the Board of Directors.
  • Assures excellence in quality and patient care and safety, and establishes an environment, processes, and procedures to ensure that all care givers understand and are sensitive to the total patient needs.
  • Serves as the prime initiator of corporate directions, and upon approval of the Board of Directors, to establish formalized strategies - business, financial and programmatic - and see that these are implemented. Initiates and directs corporate planning for the HealthCare System on a short, intermediate, and long-range basis and seek to effect planning schedules on a timely basis.
  • As the leader in concert with the Board and work system leadership, develops a team that functions effectively and efficiently to meet the strategic goals of the organization by: providing guidance to various groups, i.e. the Board, the work system leaders, administrative personnel, volunteers, etc.; and coordinating the various efforts so that all feel involved and committed and have appropriate access and input.
  • Develops and enhances the overall organizational tone and philosophy and the general policy which direct day-to-day and long-range functions of the organization.
  • Evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the HealthCare System's educational commitments and work with appropriate affiliates to ensure the excellence and viability of the programs in the future.
  • As the leader, represents the HealthCare System to its "communities": patient/staff, medical/academic, contiguous localities, business groups, external agencies/institutions/associations and other health professionals; to educate the various internal and external constituencies concerning the HealthCare System's role, goals, objectives, philosophy and accomplishments.
  • Maintains and enhances traditional areas of strength of the HealthCare System, and provides an atmosphere conducive to creative and innovative thinking to meet the challenge of the ever-increasing competitive marketplace of the future.
  • Works closely with Philanthropy leadership to cultivate community support, donations and volunteers; Ensures positive Donor Relations.
  • Develops strategies and programs that will build upon the current financial base in order to ensure the solvency and fiscal health of the organization in forthcoming years, taking into account changes from the regulatory and competitive environment. Oversees and reviews all budgets, finance and cost structures to assure the HealthCare System's fiscal and programmatic integrity, and its efficiencies.
  • Is an active participant in local, state and national health and hospital issues and activities in order to learn, understand and respond to changes in the overall health care delivery system; and relates these specific and programmatic needs of the HealthCare System community.
  • Utilizes effectively the resources of the Boards of Directors by: keeping the Boards of Directors informed about significant HealthCare System developments; keeping the Boards of Directors informed about scientific developments and local, state and national health-related issues; ensuring the proper functioning of Boards of Directors committees; and encouraging communications between the Boards of Directors and medical staff leadership in a timely fashion
  • Guides the relationships with the work systems and the organized medical staff, ensuring appropriate advice and counsel from its leadership in conjunction with long term planning and the establishment of appropriate priorities and allocation of resources in accordance with that planning. Additionally, educates leadership on current hospital and health care trends and issues, and working with it to ensure an appropriate medical staff governance structure.
  • Provides for optimum utilization to all HealthCare System personnel. To this end, develop a workforce for the HealthCare System with a focus on diversity and inclusiveness; in addition, sees that organizational structures and functions are defined and appropriately staffed with competent people, and that those individuals are delegated appropriate authority and are compensated commensurate with their responsibilities as defined by the Chief Executive Officer, that appropriate limitations to that authority are defined by the Chief Executive Officer with respect to policy commitments, expenditures and actions affecting personnel, and that managers are being continually developed so that qualified successors are available for major positions.
  • Reviews and maintains a performance evaluation system that recognizes outstanding performers and establishes the foundation for correcting unacceptable behavior as well as incentives to enhance performance.
  • Supports and promotes adherence to the organization's Code of Ethics by the medical staff, the administrative staff and the other personnel covered there under.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to ten (10) pounds maximum and occasionally lifts or carry small item (files, manual, binder).
  • Ability concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends and attend employee or business functions in evenings or early mornings, outside of normal business hours.

Pay Range

$1,000.00 - $800,000.00

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
