Summary
Utilizing the nursing process, responsibility for providing for immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital and regulatory agencies. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions - Accurately assesses patients' needs. -Utilizes multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health problems and functional status. -Utilizes Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths. - Performs point of care testing. - Communicates findings effectively to members of the healthcare team. - Documentation reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients' response to treatment interventions. - Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis; utilizes non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situation. -Accurately plans nursing interventions for assigned patients. - Modifies and individualizes Nursing Plan of Care and protocols. - Participates in the development of the multidisciplinary treatment plan. - Demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care needs. - Partners with patients/families to support recovery goals. - Provides and implements nursing care interventions. - Establishes a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients. - Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration using BMV scanning. - Reviews physician orders in a timely manner. - Promotes interventions that provide the least-restrictive alternatives and recovery oriented goals. - Participates in leading patient groups. - Accurately evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care interventions. - Documentation on the Nursing Plan of Care, protocols, and Assessment Flowsheet reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients' response to treatment interventions. - Accurately communicates patients' clinical status at clinical team rounds and change of shift reports. - Utilizes evidence based nursing knowledge to guide practice decisions. - Provides a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care. - Provides direction and supervision of MHSs. - Delegate care interventions. - Assumes a leadership role in medical and psychiatric emergencies. - Promotes/provides for critical incident de-briefing following emergency event. Education Current Massachusetts RN license in good standing. BLS and ACLS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of hire). Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience, including both scrub and circulate roles-ophthalmology experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of sterile technique, AORN guidelines, and surgical safety practices. Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment. This dual-role position requires proficiency in both scrub and circulating responsibilities, supporting a high-volume, fast-paced ophthalmology OR with a focus on exceptional patient care and surgical outcomes.
