The Opportunity:

Emplify Health is seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Operational Finance to lead the financial management and strategic planning of operational activities across the enterprise. This role partners closely with senior operational leaders and the CFO to develop and execute financial strategies that enhance efficiency, profitability, and sustainable growth. The VP Operational Finance will have a critical role in shaping financial decision-making and driving organizational transformation.

The successful candidate will oversee system-level financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall goals. They will serve with autonomy on governance, M&A, and enterprise committees, influencing key initiatives and decisions. Additionally, the VP will build and lead a high-performing finance team that supports regional CFOs and operational leaders.

This position offers the opportunity to improve and extend budgeting processes and ERP systems enterprise-wide, centralize business office functions, and shift local leaders' focus from operational management to strategic change. The role is ideal for a seasoned finance leader with strong business acumen and a collaborative approach who is passionate about operational finance and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes financial plans to meet performance targets.

  • Drives results at the regional level including operating priorities, facility plans, long-range planning, pro forma, accountability, and analytics.

  • Improves budgeting processes and extends ERP systems across the enterprise.

  • Influences critical access hospital (CAH) leadership and advisory board relationships.

  • Centralizes business office functions to enhance efficiency.

  • Proactively identifies budget variances and develops action plans with COOs.

  • Mentors and builds a strong, capable finance team.

  • Participates in governance, M&A, and enterprise committees with autonomy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required; MBA or similar degree preferred.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

  • 10+ years of finance experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership, preferably in operational finance.

  • Proven expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.

  • Strong knowledge of financial systems, accounting practices, and operational finance principles.

  • Strong business acumen with expertise in risk-reward models.

  • Ability to communicate, analyze, and synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights.

  • Experience with core finance processes: long-range planning, budgeting, cost accounting.

  • Skilled in change management and influencing organizational change.
