This position is accountable for the 24-hour, 7 day a week management of human and material resources in the inventory control and distribution of patient supplies, surgical supplies, in-house printed material, and equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, providing efficient distribution of product to clinical areas and support segments as needed. This person must be able to communicate supply chain issues effectively to nursing groups, physicians, cross functional leaders, marketing, and vendors. This position may conduct periodic reviews of PAR Carts, obsolete inventory, expired inventory, etc. and assure rotation of stock. This position is responsible for scheduling staff to cover day to day duties of nursing units, surgical services, construction, and administration (and any other support segment as necessary). New stock evaluations must be coordinated with purchasing and user departments. This position is responsible for implementation and direct communication with the departments served on changes in product, process, or policy. This position may include recommendations for capital equipment, procurement, changes to policy and procedure, and decision regarding setting patient pricing on market sensitive items. This position is responsible for managing all downtime procedures for deployment of supply inclusive of safety stock for emergency preparedness. This position is directly involved with hiring and termination approval of potential constituents. This position is responsible for the assessment of training of new team members and/or delegation of appropriate training. This position has the authority to relocate equipment within the acute hospital to increase work efficiency, secure rental equipment from vendors, make changes in floor assignments and/or special projects as needed to improve workflow. This position does not provide patient care.
