Salary Range:$21-$25/hour depending on experience and location
Schedule:Full-time

DEA'sInland Northwest marketis looking to hire aCivil/Transportation Engineering Internto support our Roads and Highways team while working on transportation related projects.Successful candidates will work on multidiscipline projects performing independent engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications.

The increasing complexities of modern transportation include growing demands, aging infrastructure, rising costs, funding challenges, and environmental concerns. Agencies and communities faced with improving their transportation systems must do more with less. From initial investigations through planning, concept development, final design, and construction, DEA responds with solutions that serve today's transportation needs while accommodating tomorrow's growth. Our Transportation Business Unit focuses on five markets; Bridges and Structures, Roads and Highways, Transit and Rail, Smart Mobility and Construction Engineering.

Design work may include freeway, highway and roadway design, street improvements, utility plans, traffic control plans, signing and pavement marking plans, traffic signal plans, stormwater, technical writing, quantity calculations, and construction documents, and all supporting documentation.The candidates would also be eager to accept new challenges to diversify their skills by not only performing transportation engineering work, but also construction observation and general civil design. Finally, successful candidates will have good interpersonal and communication skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for work.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate projects with supervisor, project managers, and firm staff.

  • Provide sketches and/or detailed layout information to design staff for incorporation into the construction drawings.

  • Design, prepare and analyze preliminary and final plans in Civil 3D and OpenRoads Designer software.

  • Prepares and designs street improvement plans, public improvement plans, and rough and precise grading plans.

  • Analyze maps, reports, drawings, as-builts and test results for design projects.

  • Preparation and modification of reports, specifications, estimates, and designs for projects.

  • Provide project-specific technical information to the Project Manager for incorporation into the project specifications.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be in the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, with at least 2+ years of completed course work

  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clear motor vehicle report

  • Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of completed course work in Civil Engineering
