Your Opportunity as the Engineering Operator 3

The Engineering Operator performs a full range of maintenance/engineering assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific situations.

Location: 1969 Victory Dr, Columbus, GA 31901 (Hostess Manufacturing Facility)

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site, we have 5 openings. 3 on AM (6am-6pm) and 2 on PM (6pm-6am) (flexibility to support off-shifts or weekends when required)

Compensation Base Rate: $37.45/hr

In this role you will:

  • Repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments.

  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

  • Interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics to troubleshoot and repair various fluid and flow systems

  • Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.

  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.

  • Start devices to test their performance.

  • Lubricate and clean parts.

  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

  • Requisition supplies, materials, tools, machine parts, and other necessary equipment.

  • Repair electrical equipment.

  • Ensure the proper use, care, and storage of tools and equipment.

  • Perform bearing analysis and installation.

  • Weld various types of metal to repair or fabricate metal assemblies (e.g. racks, shelves, stands for equipment, etc.) using appropriate tools (e.g. cutting torch, arc and gas welder, high-speed disk, grinders, files, etc.).

  • Perform preventive maintenance on uninterrupted power supply systems, generators, and air compressors to maintain system operation and reliability to ensure uninterrupted power and continuous air supply to critical facilities, equipment and systems using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools (e.g. hydrometer, voltmeter, amp meter, digital keypad, etc.).

  • Analyze electrical circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings, troubleshooting electrical circuit to the component level.

  • Install troubleshoot, repair, modify, calibrate and adjust electrical/electronic system components and circuits used in measurement and control of current, voltage, temperature, humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, tension, flow, time, frequency, thickness and density

  • Know and apply the operating principles, purpose, proper application and design limitations of electrical power distribution system components and elements. Includes the troubleshooting, testing, repair, replacement, adjustment, calibration and cleaning of the system and elements

  • Other duties as defined.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires high school diploma, or equivalent.

  • 2 years of industrial maintenance required

  • Previous safety experience required (i.e. LOTO)

  • Knowledge of electrical components (i.e. high/low voltage, motors, etc.)

  • Able to read and understand electrical/mechanical schematics.

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • Additional postsecondary education is preferred (i.e.: Technical of Vocational education) in areas of industrial engineering.

  • Industrial electricity courses, welding, PLC, pneumatic or other mechanic courses extremely desirable

  • Osha 10 to 30-hour training preferred

Work Environment: This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing sites can be high.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently.

  • May push and pull heavy trash carts, and portable equipment

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
