Posting Summary
The Rutgers Pre College Outreach and Upward Bound Math-Science ( RUBMS) Programs are designed to assist and motivate students to succeed, graduate from high school, and enroll in institutions of higher education. The Program Mentor participates in a combination of the following duties: conducting mentor group meetings, programming, monitoring, and facilitating sessions, attendance tracking, tutoring, chaperoning trips/activities, mentorship, crisis response, administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned. Our summer institute will take place from Monday, June 23, 2025, through Friday, August 8, 2025.

Minimum Education and Experience

Overview
Statement
Program Mentors will maintain an environment that promotes academic excellence, social development and intellectual growth as well as getting youth motivated about attending college by preparing skill development for college level courses. In addition to instruction applicant is expected to supervise and monitor students during enrichment and recitation classes. Ensure the safety, well-being and attendance of all students at all times by properly monitoring students on campus and in common areas, study halls, and computer labs.
Average instruction and duty should not exceed 30-40 hours per week.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Create all programming before the start of the Summer Institute and must be approved by the professional staff.
  • Must report daily scholar attendance, program incidents, and program highlights.
  • Submit time sheet documenting individualized hours worked.
  • Must adhere to the dress code as defined by Upward Bound Math-Science Departmental Dress Code Policy. i.e. shorts, jeans, sandals, sneakers are not permitted.
  • Follow all program deadlines and submissions.
  • Encourage acceptance and promote inclusive communities.
  • Maintain required paperwork and submit all reports, program supplies, and materials prior to the end of the program
  • Complete Protection of Minors
