GENERAL FUNCTION:
Perform basic Investment Operations functions with a focus on maintaining the Investment Book of Record (IBOR) for the Private Bank's wealth platform and the Accounting Book of Record (ABOR) for the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) platform. This role supports both a single separately managed account portfolio structure (SMA) and a Unified Managed Account sleeve structure. Responsibilities include daily custodial transaction and positions reconciliations with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance from the Manager of Operations. Work on special projects assigned to assist with changes to money management systems, investment procedures, regulatory changes, and the introduction of new asset management products.

While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Portfolio Accounting and Investment Operation functions:

  • Perform daily position reconciliation utilizing automated matching software to ensure accuracy in both the IBOR and ABOR, analyzing discrepancies and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Perform daily tax lot reconciliation utilizing automated matching software to ensure accuracy in both the IBOR and ABOR, analyzing discrepancies and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Perform daily transaction reconciliation utilizing automated matching software to ensure accuracy in both the IBOR and ABOR, analyzing discrepancies and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Identify transaction, tax lot, and position breaks between custodial and portfolio accounting systems (IBOR) and custodial and accounting systems (ABOR), analyzing discrepancies and ensuring alignment, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Monitor daily scripts that download pricing into the IBOR and ABOR, analyzing results within platform dashboards and taking corrective actions as needed, including rerunning scripts, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Monitor scripts and processes that download/process corporate action data into the IBOR and ABOR, analyzing results within platform dashboards and taking corrective actions as needed, including rerunning scripts, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Perform period-end processes for preparation of investment performance calculations (IBOR) and accounting reports/reconciliations (ABOR), analyzing results and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Assist in the establishment of new accounts, portfolios, and sleeves on the Wealth and RIA Platforms, monitoring the setup process and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Monitor and assist with new portfolio structures to transfer positions from the UMA root sleeve to designated internal or externally managed sleeves, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.

Trading Operations functions:

  • Monitor daily upload of accounting positions into trade order management software, ensuring consistency with both the IBOR and ABOR, analyzing results and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Identify trades that do not match broker confirmations, analyzing discrepancies and taking corrective actions under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Monitor and analyze matched or near-matched trades between the trading blotter, counterparties, and DTCC, adjusting pairing and matching tolerance rules for efficiency, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Transmit trade details to external fund accountants/brokers, monitoring the process and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Provide delivery instructions as needed to external custodians to assist in trade settlement, monitoring the process and taking corrective actions as needed, with minimal to limited supervision and regular guidance.
  • Assist in the creation of documents for the oversight Committee, analyzing data and ensuring accuracy under the direction of the supervisor.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required. Focus on Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • 1 year of asset management, investment operations, or related experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of fixed income, equity securities, mutual funds, ETF's, and liquid cash instruments
  • Basic understanding of trade-related operation areas.
  • Basic understanding of performance measurement calculations.
  • Basic understanding of PC-related applications, and working knowledge of mainframe system interface.
  • Basic knowledge of Bank and Brokerage Custodial systems and interfaces with money management systems preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
