Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating myelination in the central nervous system as directed in the Department of Neuroscience; independently manages the mouse colony and related animal husbandry and breeding tasks; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, immunostaining, acute brain slice preparation and immunoblot experiments; collects and processes tissue samples; prepares lab common solutions; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; maintains lab documentation records for national and institutional compliance and prepares for compliance inspections; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
