Research Senior Technician

Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating myelination in the central nervous system as directed in the Department of Neuroscience; independently manages the mouse colony and related animal husbandry and breeding tasks; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, immunostaining, acute brain slice preparation and immunoblot experiments; collects and processes tissue samples; prepares lab common solutions; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; maintains lab documentation records for national and institutional compliance and prepares for compliance inspections; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Experience in a biological/health research capacity is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
