As aLead Medical Simulation Specialist in the Clinical Skills Education and Assessment Center (CSEAC) within the College of Medicine, serving as a subject matter expert and carrying out advanced simulation responsibilities; drives advancement of CSEAC by developing and implementing new skills, simulations, and training opportunities; develops, implements, and manages training and onboarding of medical simulation specialists and technicians; recruits, interviews, and participates in the evaluation of staff; serves as liaison to university, faculty, and industry partners in organizing and implementing simulation activities; leads integration of skills and procedures into existing and future medical curricular programs, especially those that are interprofessional and/or interdisciplinary in nature; develops and implements evaluation activities to assess effectiveness of simulation delivery; drives advancement of CSEAC by developing and implementing new skills, simulations, and training opportunities; develops and oversees all aspects of creating and implementing simulation scenarios; partners with faculty to design curriculum to meet learning objectives and leads the implementation of those objectives into CSEAC resources to provide an effective learning environment; leads and oversees simulation activities within the procedures lab, virtual critical care bays, surgery room, and ultrasound room; facilitates trainee practice of clinical and/or procedural skills and oversees use of clinical task trainers by faculty, staff and trainees; develops and implements new skills and procedures training opportunities; ensures that goals and objectives of educational sessions are well integrated with CSEAC resources to provide an effective learning environment;. The Education Program Consultant leads advancement by developing and participating in educational research mission of CSEAC; supports and participates in the pursuit of accreditation for the center by contributing to applications and participating in site visits; leads development of research proposals and assists with identification of funding sources; assists Associate Director and Medical Director in overseeing and managing daily operations of CSEAC; participates in strategic planning of the CSEAC with Associate Director and Medical Director; contributes to budget process by providing expertise on simulation equipment needs and expenses; assists Associate Director and Medical Director in oversight of the CSEAC budget. The Education Program Consultant oversees regular maintenance and quality assurance of simulation technology, identifies equipment in need of repair or replacement, and facilitates repair process at CSEAC or in partnership with vendor organizations; evaluates and recommends procurement of new simulation technology and/or accessories and other procedural training devices and materials; manages and ensures appropriate inventory and maintenance schedule of laboratory equipment and associated materials; facilitates practice of clinical and/or procedural skills and oversees use of equipment by faculty and trainees; develops and maintains procedure manuals. Function: Education Sub-Function: Education Programs Career Band: S Career Level: S4 Minimum Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a relevant health care field or equivalent experience. Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a relevant health care field or equivalent experience. 6 years experience with operation and use of human simulators and trainers. Excellent communication skills required. Work hours can vary to include the occasional early morning, evening or weekend events. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen. Additional Desired Qualifications Masters degree preferred; considerable experience in a clinical health care capacity desired, preferably in an academic medical center environment; experience with administration of clinical education programs preferred; experience teaching in a clinical education setting preferred; experience in an administrative or management capacity desired. |
