Job Description

Dr. Trupti Joshi Laboratory is seeking to hire a Senior Research Specialist

Duties include:

Analyze diverse types of biological data, including next generation sequencing (NGS) such as RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, other multiomics data and microbiome data. Prepare and publish manuscripts.
Contribute towards development of web-based framework and tools for multiomics data integration within SoyKB and KBCommons frameworks, B5 data nexus and mixomics learning platforms, in addition to other new tools such as IRnet, CrossMP, scPlantAnnotate etc. Develop databases and data visualization tools using latest evolving technology including Python, R, Javascript, Django, mySQL, MongoDB etc. Experiences with workflow management systems like Snakemake and GPU programming. Familiarity with use of Amazon web services (AWS) resources and GitHUB. Build automatic workflow or pipelines for specific biological problems using HPC and cloud storage such as AWS. Coordinate or participate in collaborative bioinformatics research and training workshop and course development.

Successful candidates will be expected to be persuasive communicators with exceptional organizational and time management skills.

Shift

Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Master degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field. Prior experience working with such data, databases and tools development desired. Minimum one year work experience desired.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $80,000/year

Grade: GGS-9E
