The Sr. Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for identifying training needs, designing, developing, and delivering effective training programs, and evaluating the impact of training initiatives to enhance employee skills, performance, and overall organizational effectiveness. This role will be focused on L&D for operations and works closely with managers, subject matter experts, and team members to ensure that learning opportunities are aligned with Roskam's business goals and support employee growth and development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Training Needs Analysis:

  • Conduct assessments to identify skill gaps and training needs across the organization.

  • Collaborate with leaders and managers to determine training requirements based on business objectives and performance goals.

Program Development and Design:

  • Design, develop, and implement engaging training programs, including workshops, e-learning modules, webinars, and on-the-job training.

  • Create and update training materials such as manuals, handouts, presentations, and job aids.

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design techniques to create effective learning experiences.

Training Delivery:

  • Facilitate training sessions (both in-person and virtual) for employees at various levels, ensuring content is delivered in an engaging and understandable manner.

  • Coordinate with external trainers and vendors when needed for specialized training programs.

  • Support onboarding programs for new employees to ensure they are effectively integrated into the organization.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Measure the effectiveness of training programs through feedback surveys, assessments, and performance metrics.

  • Analyze training outcomes and provide recommendations for improvements.

  • Prepare and present reports on training activities, participation, and outcomes to management.

Learning Management System (LMS) Management:

  • Maintain and update the organization's Learning Management System, ensuring that training content is current and accessible.

  • Track and monitor employee participation and progress in training programs.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with HR, managers, and subject matter experts to ensure training programs align with organizational goals.

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the organization.

Stay Current with Industry Trends:

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in learning and development, training technologies, and best practices.

  • Recommend innovative solutions to enhance training programs and employee engagement.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in training design, facilitation, and development, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment.

  • Experience with compliance and safety training in regulated industries a plus.

  • Experience with instructional design, adult learning principles, and training delivery required.

  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) is a plus.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage and motivate learners.

  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of change management principles and practices.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate training effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.

  • Professional Training Certifications are a plus.
