Your role with us

We are seeking a skilled and experienced, associate general counsel to join our legal team here at Salem Health. The ideal candidate will assist Chief Legal Counsel and is responsible for managing or assisting with a variety of matters, providing legal advice and support to various internal departments, and ensuring that all legal risks associated are effectively mitigated.

What you'll do

  • Analyzes and advises on the impact and application of federal and state health care laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Prepares, reviews, and negotiates as applicable, contracts, governance and transaction documents.
  • Helps support risk and compliance teams under the Chief Legal Counsel.
  • Works closely with interested stakeholders to solve problems, improve processes and conduct investigations/reviews as needed.
  • Serves on committees and assists in the formulation and implementation of policies, procedures and processes.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Required experience

  • Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in Oregon
  • Minimum 5 years in practice.

Additional information

  • Experience in healthcare law is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience and knowledge with legal and/or regulatory issues.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to our strategic plan, regulatory and political environment, as well as the company's policies, procedures, and practices, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to assess and interpret external rules and regulations.
