Overview Gas Planning is seeking to hire a Section Manager to join its management team. The overall responsibility of the Section Manager is to ensure that the Company maintains a reliable and economic gas supply portfolio to meet the needs of its gas customers, Steam Operations and Power Generation customers. The selected candidate must have excellent communication skills as well as strong analytical and computer skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented. Must be able to critically think and help shape new programs. Must have experience leading teams. Must have experience creating and presenting PowerPoint slides. Must have the ability to interact effectively with customers, gas marketers, support staff, regulators, and pipeline and storage company representatives, and various levels of management.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Represent Energy Management in various rate case proceedings including but not limited to CECONY, O+R, and FERC related cases. The position is expected to prepare testimony, participate in settlement negotiations, respond to IRs, as well as submit questions.
- Lead interdepartmental team(s) in Company initiatives;
- Train direct reports taking on new responsibilities and resolving any issues or discrepancies that arise;
- Communicate with, PSC Staff and on all matters;
- Build strong working relationships with other departments in the Company on issues involving upstream gas transportation and storage needs
- Provide support to Corporate Strategic Planning develop and update all gas long range plans. This includes, but is not limited to, providing gas price forecasts.
- Negotiate new and existing (renewal) contracts with pipelines and storage fields.
- Draft, prepare, and/or review all contracts associated with Gas Planning activities
- Provide feedback on the calculations for monthly pricing for interruptible customers to maximize revenue and provide a competitive basis for Marketers;
- Provide feedback on reports and pricing information in support of accounting;
- Analyze data and develop worksheet applications to improve current work processes;
- Work with budgeting and IT to ensure resources for the maintenance and upgrade of existing databases;
- Represent the Company at industry and regulatory meetings and functions;
- Perform other functions as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 years of work experience
- Master's Degree and at least 6 years of work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Engineering, Energy, Science, Operations Mgmt, or approved equivalent and at least 8 years of work experience
- Master's Degree Business, Engineering, Energy, Science, Operations Mgmt, or approved equivalent and at least 6 years of work experience
Relevant Work Experience
- Experience developing and troubleshooting Excel worksheets is required.
- Strong analytical and computer skills, particularly with Excel is required.
- Experience leading teams in informal settings is required.
- Experience in creating and presenting PowerPoint slides is required.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Driver's License Required
