Responsibilities

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers hope and healing for youth ages 7 to 17 at the time of admission with several psychiatric diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities. Located in Portsmouth, VA, Harbor Point provides intensive, residential treatment to youth in a comfortable setting that is conducive to healing. Our facility specializes in treating children and adolescents with depression, bipolar, ADHD, and other mental health issues. We also have specific treatment programs for those with intellectual disabilities or those with self-injurious behavior. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE-approved and certified facility.

Position Scope:

The Director of Business Development oversees the provision of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service activities within the Marketing Department. The Director of Business Development is responsible for achieving the desired utilization of the organization's continuum of care through the effective application of marketing principles and methods. As a member of the facility management team, the Director of Business Development is actively involved in discussions related to a wide variety of facility issues including, but not limited to, strategic planning, enhancing the branding/imaging, potential growth opportunities, future projects, changing in programing/protocols, recruitment and retention. This role is also responsible for the facility's strategic marketing plan, and maintaining an active and productive working relationship with internal departments and communicates issues or potential problems proactively, especially with CEO and Director of Admissions/Intake.

Hours are based on departmental and facility needs and may include day, evening and weekend hours, as directed by the CEO/Managing Director.

Essential Functions:

1. Serves as the liaison between the facility, the community, and referring agencies.

2. Directly responsible for creating demand for the facility's services through the effective application of ethical marketing principles and sales methods.

3. Presents a positive and professional public image of the facility within the community.

4. Implementing the facility's strategic sales plan by managing their assigned territory and accounts

5. Works towards achieving departmental and facility business development goals

6. Must be able to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication in a fast-paced environment and when establishing professional relationships with potential and current referral sources.

7. Ability to travel locally is required. Future travel may include trips that may be in excess of 4 nights a week away from home, including on occasion some weekends

8. Designs, develops and implements marketing philosophy.

9. Supervises and trains marketing departments

10. Develops and maintains service relationships

11. Collects, analyze and reports data to identify trends, ensure efficiency and adjust strategy

12. Demonstrates the Service Excellence Module at all times


Qualifications

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field required. Masters of Business Administration or related field highly preferred.

* A minimum of five years of experience in organizational communications, referral development, workshop planning, sales management, sales mentoring, training and/or physician and other professional relationship-building is required. At least 1 years of supervisory or managerial experience highly preferred.

* Prefer knowledge of the behavioral health services

Licensure/Certification:

Valid Driver's License

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of experience directly related to mental health care marketing in hospitals or managed care environments. A strong client service background is mandatory. Has proven record in business development and sales.
