The Project Manager Ill serves as a key operational leader within the Office of Public Safety (OPS), responsible for developing and implementing standardized processes, procedures, and training across OPS units and University Departments. This position leads cross-functional initiatives to streamline operations, integrate emergency planning efforts with campus departments and community partners, and support public safety, emergency management, and other OPS functions. The role identifies, manages, and evaluates complex projects, ensuring alignment with OPS priorities and strategic goals. The position also fosters continuous quality improvement through project evaluation and stakeholder collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- Project Management and Execution - Identifies, scopes, plans, and executes cross-functional projects within OPS, including those related to public safety, emergency management, and threat assessment. Monitors progress, manages timelines and resources, resolves obstacles, and ensures successful project delivery aligned with strategic goals.
- Process Improvement and Operational Integration - Leads the development, documentation, and implementation of standardized processes, procedures, and training programs across OPS units. Coordinates efforts to streamline internal workflows and integrate OPS functions with other university departments and external stakeholders to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Training Development and Implementation - Designs, develops, and facilitates comprehensive training programs for OPS personnel that support operational excellence and compliance with university and regulatory standards. Ensures training initiatives are updated regularly, aligned with best practices, and responsive to evolving organizational needs.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication - Collaborates with campus departments, community partners, and external agencies to support OPS initiatives and foster integration and awareness. Prepares and delivers regular updates and presentations to leadership and key stakeholders on project milestones, operational changes, and outcomes.
- Strategic Analysis and Continuous Improvement - Conducts data-driven assessments of existing OPS programs and initiatives to evaluate performance, identify gaps, and recommend improvements. Contributes to the development of long-term planning documents and departmental priorities to ensure alignment with the university's mission and safety strategy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools, including the ability to define scope, track deliverables, and manage cross-functional teams to successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated skill in process improvement and operational efficiency, with the ability to assess, design, and implement standardized workflows across departments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to various audiences and foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate training programs that align with departmental needs and compliance standards, particularly in the areas of public safety, emergency management, and threat assessment.
- Strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess program effectiveness, interpret data, and recommend improvements aligned with organizational goals.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, high-stakes environment, while maintaining attention to detail and organizational goals. Proficiency in project management software and productivity tools, and the ability to support team members in their use.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant project management, process improvement, or operational planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience working with public safety, emergency management, or other areas within OPS.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
