Position Highlights |
A successful Financial Services Specialist will join a team responsible for providing customer service and cashiering support related to student financial accounts at the University of Arizona's Busar's Office. The Financial Services Specialist will provide general information and analyze detailed account information for students, both over the phone and in person. Cashiering duties involve processing student payments and departmental deposits. A successful Financial Services Specialist will be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and problem solver while participating in a team environment. This position is entirely in-person, with no remote work options available. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Assist and advise customers by analyzing and interpreting student accounts primarily via telephone. Actively listening and collecting information from customers to help answer questions. Analyze billing account to help customers understand their charges and credits.
- Provide general University information to customers and departments. Provide instructions for processes, such as submitting a Stop Payment request online. Provide instructions on how to utilize Tuition Calculator online. Exchange information with other University departments such as Financial Aid and Registrars to help analyze student's account.
- Process routine financial transactions, including accepting payments, balancing the cash drawer, and preparing cash handling documentation. Assist with payment deferments, temporary loans, stop payments, reissued refund checks, and fee adjustments, following standard procedures and daily reports. Escalate issues as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to relate to and communicate with university staff, students and the public.
- Skills in problem analysis, problem solving, and decision making.
- Ability to work in a detailed-oriented, team environment.
- Skills in both oral and written communication.
- Strong general math skills.
- Proficiency in use of computer software and programs such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Cash handling skills.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience.
- 1 year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience using enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, UAccess Financial systems - Financial Aid, Bursar, Registration or Ad-mission process.
- Experience in handling payments, processing financial transactions, or working in a cash-handling role.
- Previous employment in a front-facing customer service position.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report |
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
