The James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences is seeking candidates to fill a Research Program Administration Officer II position. The Research Program Administration Officer will facilitate IR systems lab objectives, through management and support of UofA business practices and policies to meet program and project objectives. Project management of key laboratory research programs which includes activities such as financial program management, project management, sub contractor management for major lab sponsors. Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or have another protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to be ITAR/EAR compliant. Duties & Responsibilities |
Program Planning and Finances
- Gather, monitor and report research expenditures for research projects for the IR systems lab.
- Work with accounting to reconcile, balance and plan all IR systems laboratory projects including subcontractors.
- Assist with reporting requirements for sponsored research projects on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Prepare technical and financial reports for submission to laboratory sponsors.
- Managing a mix of ongoing large projects sponsored by federal entities, but also smaller intermittent projects that support the broader technology development program, and tracking financials.
- Support the Principal Investigators (PI) by ensuring all deadlines and deliverables are met except technical execution of the project.
- Assemble and copy-edit technical reports ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements without generating original technical content.
- Review and interpret sponsor guidance for program compliance and liaise requirements across financial, export control,and COI with relevant College functions.
- Liaise with College contract and grants for proposal coordination, support and development.
- Ensuring compliance particularly around export control and national security-sensitive projects.
- Ensuring communication and requirements are met for sponsored projects.
- Coordination of quality assurance and compliance checks are delegated appropriately to the relevant personnel or offices.
- Work on special projects for the IR Lab to include coordinating sponsor visits and program reviews.
- Support PI with proposal development by helping to develop budgets and handing off to the College Grants and Contracts team.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge in: Financial oversight and compliance. MS Project Basic knowledge of UAccess Financials |
Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or have another protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to be ITAR/EAR compliant.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report |
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
