Job Description: We are looking for multiple roles for the Soo Locks Phase 3 project in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. Working with the Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), this massive and instrumental project is valued at over $1+billion and is scheduled to last for 7+ years. As a Night Shift Quality Manager (Civil, Concrete) your role will encompass the following: POSITION SUMMARY:
- Responsible for the implementation of the Quality Control (QC) program and for collaborating with all team members to various personnel to achieve contract requirements on the project and minimize rework
- Implements/performs and supports the processes for inspecting, documenting, and addressing potential deficiencies in the field.

- Daily schedule will be 10 hour shifts starting at 5:30-6:00 pm, Monday-Saturday (no Sunday work) additional hours may be required depending on the site activities.
- 6-10s with the expectation that work will be 17 days onsite, then a longer 4-day weekend away from the Soo Locks site
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a working knowledge and understanding of project documents, including contract drawings, specifications, procedures, and submittals, in order to evaluate the work quality and conformance to the plan
- Understands the entire scope of work for definable features on the project and provides input into the development of the strategy and engineering packages to support construction execution, within the contract requirements, primarily focused on the site civil and concrete arenas
- Performs surveillance and monitors work activities, ensures the technical adequacy and quality of work performed continues to meet or exceed project specification
- Assist with development and implementation of checklists and procedures, maintenance of quality records, material deliveries and certifications, submittal review, and coordination of inspections and testing
- Coordinate and monitor performance of independent inspectors and personnel performing tests to ensure they are appropriately trained, qualified, and satisfactorily performing their functions
- Verify that equipment used for testing and inspection is calibrated and remove uncalibrated equipment from service
- Identify non-conformances and unsatisfactory conditions and immediately report issues to the Superintendent and assist with corrective actions
- Perform and document the results of re-inspections or re-testing of unsatisfactory conditions or non-conformances to ensure compliance with contract documents
- Establish and maintain working relationship with the client, project management and staff, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that the Quality Plan is implemented, and client expectations are achieved
- Support the evaluation of work plans for quality controls and offer recommendations for improvements
- Comply with all safety policies regarding field and laboratory activities
- Communicate effectively and routinely on pertinent quality matters with the Superintendent
- Proactively review construction quality control practices to determine opportunities for improvement
- Implement and support training field personnel in quality requirements and procedure.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and 6+ years of related experience or a high school diploma or GED equivalent and 12+ years of related experience in lieu of degree.
- PE credentialing is a strong plus
- Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
