JOB SUMMARY
Works under limited supervision to support UTSW commercialization efforts by leading strategic and tactical development of all agreement and grant reporting compliance functions within the Office for Technology Development (OTD).

This position falls under a hybrid work schedule with 2 days in office / 3 days remote.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management or a science related field.


  • Experience
    Previous work experience in agreement and grant reporting compliance management within the field of technology commercialization.

JOB DUTIES



  • Lead the recording of all new and existing license agreements, option agreements, inter-institutional agreements (IIAs), and other intellectual property-related agreements entered into by the university within the offices record systems (i.e., Sophia). Conduct periodic audits of such records to ensure accuracy over time.
  • Manages staff and responsible for hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching and talent development.
  • Maintain an accurate docket of the non-financial terms (NFTs) of such intellectual property-related agreements and proactively communicate with counterparties of such agreements to ensure timely fulfillment of obligations.
  • Ensure proper collection and curation of progress reports from licensees. Review progress reports and make determinations on licensee's ability to meet their obligations for diligence milestones, etc.
  • Monitor and improve SOPs for managing Licensee non-compliance (e.g. missed milestone deadlines, non-payment of patent expenses, etc.).
  • Update and maintain licensee information in the offices record systems based on progress reports and other sources of information (e.g. entity size, contact information, etc.).
  • Oversee compliance reporting as it relates to inventions arising from research grant agreements and other similar agreements (NIH, VA, CPRIT, HHMI, foundations, etc.). Ensure information in the offices record systems (grant info, T&C, etc.) is accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain coordination on agreement-related matters with the office's patent team and with the university's financial & accounting functions.
  • Oversee agreement management as it relates to internal data entry, accuracy, and reporting.
  • Oversee tracking of equity related to startup companies.
  • Coordinate with the office's commercialization team and the university's financial & accounting functions to ensure that all monies received by the university as license revenue is disbursed in a timely manner in accordance with university policy.
  • Establish and clearly communicate goals for measuring performance; focus on continual process improvements.
  • Provide continual learning opportunities for entire OTD team around agreement & grant reporting compliance.
  • Perform problem solving as needed with all parties related to and involved in overall agreements & grant reporting compliance processes.
  • Communicate effectively and build relationships with our internal and external partners.
  • Provide timely and courteous service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
