Job Description

The Senior Acquisition Associate will focus on supporting program managers on assigned projects across the SLD 45 acquisition portfolio. This role involves hands-on acquisition planning, documentation, and data analysis across the program lifecycle to ensure compliance with DoD and Space Force acquisition policies. The candidate will support strategic decision-making and portfolio integration by offering expertise in cost, schedule, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities



  • Provide programmatic and acquisition support to the Space Force Program Office across the lifecycle of space systems (concept to sustainment). Provide recommendations on acquisition strategies, manpower planning, and funding alignment across portfolios.
  • Facilitate and participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), working groups, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop briefings, reports, and decision support materials for senior leadership.
  • Monitor contractor performance and support contract deliverables tracking.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across DoD, industry, and interagency partners to ensure mission alignment.
  • Contribute to enterprise-level integration of space capabilities across portfolios. Ensure program alignment with statutory and regulatory acquisition requirements.
  • Maintain and analyze acquisition forecasts to ensure accuracy and identify gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Support kill chain development efforts by evaluating acquisition investments that address capability gaps.
  • Develop and coordinate strategic acquisition plans, products, and processes for Space Force leadership, including SSC PEOs and field units.
  • Organize and analyze programmatic data (cost, schedule, performance) to document acquisition execution and planning.
  • Manage acquisition databases for lifecycle consistency, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Draft, edit, and prepare point papers, briefings, articles, and other documentation for government review and external dissemination.
  • Support contract oversight through review of acquisition artifacts (SOWs, CDRLs, CFSSRs).
  • Utilize acquisition and financial management tools, including: CCaR, Microsoft Office Suite (Minimum 2 years of experience), WAWF, EDA, PDAA, Jira, Confluence, and other DoD/OSD systems.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Management, Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Science, or Operations Research); Master's degree preferred.
  • 12 years of relevant acquisition experience in government, FFRDC, or defense contracting environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience supporting space acquisition programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of DoD acquisition policies, processes, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience producing and analyzing acquisition documentation and executive reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex data to senior leadership.


Desired Qualifications



  • Experience with WAWF, CFSR, SOW review, and contract document tracking.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and collaborative reporting systems.
  • DAWIA Level II/III (or equivalent) in Program Management or related field.
  • PMP or CDFM certification is a plus.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role mostly sitting; however, some filing maybe required . This would require the ability to move files, or boxes with file data, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary, ability to lift up to 40lbs.

Mental Demands: Reading; communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control and professionalism.
