The Ray lab, in The Department of Pediatrics, University of Virginia's (UVA) School of Medicine, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab and Research Technician to support our research team. This position is critical to the success of our lab, which relies heavily on rodent models (mice and rats) to advance our scientific investigations. The technician will be responsible for managing our rodent colonies, performing experimental procedures, and contributing to the overall maintenance and compliance of the lab. The laboratory explores molecular physiology and cellular mechanisms that precipitate pediatric renal diseases, with a focus on understanding the pathogenesis of nephrotic syndrome, capillary permeability, and angiogenesis in pediatric kidney diseases. The successful candidate will be expected to manage and maintain rodent colonies (approximately 300 cages). The position intends to manage all our lab's rodent colonies (mice and rats), set up and perform medical and experimental treatments on them, tissue harvesting and processing, record-keeping of animal work, share general lab maintenance duties, and assist in animal protocol preparation.

This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. This is Non-Exempt level, benefited position. Physical Demands: This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals.
