Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Prescott, Arizona Campus Safety & Security Department is accepting applications for Unarmed Safety Officers to support the department's efforts to provide a safe and secure campus for students, faculty, staff, and guests. Job Duties:
- 30% - Community Crime Prevention and safety activities including but not limited to: General campus patrol duties, investigating incidents, performing building checks, surveillance, and application of the traffic and parking regulations. Apply university administrative policies and procedures.
- 30% - Respond to and mitigate emergencies including but not limited to: Fires, medical emergencies, criminal incidents, misconduct issues, and facilities problems.
- 10% - Housing support activities including but not limited to: Foot patrol of each residence hall every shift, inspection of parking lots and grounds; conducting educational programs and responding to calls for service from students and housing staff.
- 10% -Technical support for fire, life, safety, and security systems including but not limited to: Notifier/ONYX Works, Prowatch, RAVE, ARMS, department web pages, Eagle Card administration, access control programming and downloads, inspection and testing of code blue phones, courtesy phones, elevators emergency functions, evacuation chairs.
- 10% - Campus service calls including but not limited to: Placing signage for events, unlocking/locking doors, monitoring and staffing special events, and disabled vehicle jumpstarts. Other duties as assigned.
- 5% - Inspect for and report any safety hazards including but not limited to: fire hazards, trip hazards, view obstructions, road obstructions, unsafe work practices, unsafe lighting.
- 5% - Departmental administrative tasks including but not limited to: preparing reports and briefing shift relief. Attend training sessions and review logs, memos, and the policy and procedures manual. Actively participate in departmental staff meetings.
Team support duties include but not limited to: Providing dispatch with backup support for absences, vacations, and PL
Qualifications
High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math. 1 to 3 years related work experience Required licenses, certificates, and /or security clearances:
- DPS unarmed guard card (current or within 90 days of employment).
- Valid Arizona Driver license, "D" license from Arizona Department of Transportation
- Must meet the University's standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):
- a. More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
- b. More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
Required skills, knowledge, abilities: Analytical skills, working knowledge or ability to learn to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications. Ability to assess situations and handle problems in an orderly and professional manner. Be in good health with normal vision, hearing and dexterity, with the ability to withstand sudden energy demands. Possess a positive attitude and have good oral and written communication skills
