Job Description

Missouri University of Science and Technology is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as the Intramural Recreation Coordinator. This full-time, hourly position supports the daily operations and programming of campus intramural sports, leisure activities, and recreational events. The successful candidate will assist the Recreation Manager in overseeing program administration and will lead the design and delivery of a comprehensive, engaging, and inclusive intramural and wellness program that supports the physical and social well-being of Missouri S&T students.

This role requires regular interaction with students, strong knowledge of a variety of sports and leisure activities, and the ability to maintain accurate program data. Evening and weekend hours are required as part of the regular schedule.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement intramural sports and recreation activities that meet the interests and needs of a diverse student population
  • Provide on-site management and leadership at intramural competitions and leisure events
  • Collaborate with campus departments and organizations to promote student wellness and engagement
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate student employees, game-day staff, and officials
  • Maintain accurate participation data and evaluate programming effectiveness
  • Oversee equipment inventory and ensure operational readiness of facilities
  • Coordinate scheduling for practices, competitions, and equipment maintenance
  • Monitor safety of facilities and report concerns to the Recreation Manager
  • Serve as a resource for risk management, including documentation of incident reports
  • Interpret and implement rules for a wide range of sports and leisure activities
  • Conduct surveys and evaluations to assess student interests and improve offerings
  • Approve payroll entries for student employees related to intramural operations
  • Manage social media and marketing strategies for Miner Rec
  • Make recommendations for new programs, facility enhancements, equipment, and budget needs
  • Collaborate with Intercollegiate Athletics and Competitive Club Sports on facility scheduling
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a related field
  • One year experience in student programming for intramurals, rec sports, or general student engagement
  • Experience officiating and/or training officials in sports such as basketball, flag football, softball, soccer, or volleyball
  • Familiarity with scheduling software such as IMLeagues and/or DSE
  • CPR and AED Certification
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.61-$20.00 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
