Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable individual to join our food manufacturing production team as a Production Still Retort Cage Pusher for the night shift. Key responsibilities encompass the loading and unloading of still retorts with cages filled with finished product. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, and management. The role demands a comfort level in a manufacturing setting, where the employee will operate near noisy machinery and mechanical components. Adaptability to endure extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, is crucial. Maintaining an unwavering focus on surroundings for safety is paramount. All working hours will be carried out within the production-manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Loading and Unloading



  • Safely load and unload still retorts with cages containing finished products.
  • Ensure proper placement of cans from the production plant into retort cages.



Quality Control



  • Verify that production can codes match corresponding paperwork.
  • Maintain legible and accurate records of can count and time of retort cook.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness in the production area, in-line with GMPs.



Operational Support



  • Pull and push retort cages into and out of still retort.
  • Work closely with Retort Operators to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Communicate ongoing production status to shift lead person and shift supervisor.



Cross-Training

* Be cross trained in all areas of the production crew to ensure versatility.

* Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management.

Adherence to Safety Standards



  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Identify and report any safety concerns or issues promptly.



QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Skills



  • Capable of basic reading, writing, and performing simple math.
  • Able to push and pull heavy cages filled with canned products.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with co-workers, Retort Operators, supervisors, and Management.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain neat and accurate records with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness and ability to work and function in a fast-paced team environment.



Physical Requirements



  • Frequently stand, walk, lift, and pull/push heavy cages.
  • Reach with both hands and arms and lift up to 45 pounds.



Visual and Depth Perception



  • Ability to see close and far, determine different colors, and have good depth perception.



Adaptability and Work Ethic



  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.


  • Commitment to safe behavior.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Demonstrated a positive approach to job tasks, including excellent punctuality and attendance.

Work Schedule and Grade



  • Availability for a Monday - Friday shift from 5:54 pm - 6:00 am with additional overtime as needed based on production and customer requirements. This is a grade 2 position.
