COORDINATOR OF HOMELESSNESS
HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Coordinator of Homelessness for the Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, the Coordinator of Homelessness manages projects to improve the model of care for the homeless population. This individual will ensure project efficiency and alignment with HHS's mission. This position will work closely with the Homelessness Outreach staff, assist with the facilitation of task forces and the required funding reporting and data collection. The Coordinator of Homelessness also provides advanced administrative support for the department and special projects.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:



  • Coordinate projects, programs, initiatives and coalitions including scheduling, agenda creation, taking and communicating minutes, and facilitation as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support to the department including with the preparation of presentations, reports, and other related materials.
  • Participate in the management and preparation of grant applications and the administration of grants awarded to the department.
  • Provide project management and administrative support to HHS task forces and initiatives.
  • Attend weekly meetings with community stakeholders, coalitions, and State partners.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


SECONDARY ELEMENTS:



  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Commissioner of Health and Human Services in a professional, efficient, and effective manner


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of harm reduction strategies, health equity, and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and interpret Federal, State and local laws and ordinances; ability to work independently, exercise good judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations, organizations, and interests.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to conduct research, prepare grant applications, and to prepare detailed, accurate reports.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and complete assignments in a detailed, timely and organized manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent research and data processing skills and ability to prepare clear and concise reports.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or related field OR;


o An equivalent combination of education, training and three (3) years of experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered in lieu of the above requirements.



  • Experience managing projects and/or grant support
  • Prior experience in community engagement and/or coalition building
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse communities


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Master's Degree in public health or a related field
  • One to two years (years of experience working with vulnerable populations)
  • Two (2) years of experience with Program Management
  • Experience working at a local health or human services agency or at a local nonprofit agency
  • Experience with policy or strategic plan development Expertise in Health Equity and/or Anti-Racist frameworks
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting data
  • Experience researching and developing policy


SALARY RANGE: $61,612 - $80,730 annually, exempt, full-time, excellent benefits package
