Senior Designer - Manitowoc, WI

Pentair currently has an opening for a Senior Designer to join our team at our Manitowoc Ice facility in Manitowoc, WI. In this role, the Senior Designer will have the opportunity to be on the ground level of a wide range of product development activities, from product line support to design and development, to assisting with prototyping, to working with a cross-functional team in order to drive an idea from concept to production.Senior Designers work closely with engineers and design teams to ensure coordination of designs.

You Will:

  • Be responsible for performing Design/Drafting assignments of a complicated nature with minimal guidance.
  • Prepare design layouts and product configurations of complete systems and subsystems using 3D solid modeling design packages (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks).
  • Be responsible for documentation of all product specifications via engineering drawings, specifications, product structure in business ERP systems, and manage the Engineering Change processes.
  • Assist a degreed engineer with setting up and running FEA analysis problems.
  • Write Engineering documents such as Engineering Change Request's (ECR's), Engineering Change Order/Engineering Change Notice's (ECO/ECN's), Internal Shop Orders (ISO's), Prototype Part Requests (PPR's), etc.
  • Use Business ERP systems to release changes via ECO, and to configure product structure/bills of materials.
  • Participate in cross functional design teams.
  • Manage engineering change process on current production models.
  • Provide direction in building engineering prototypes.
  • Provide assistance in the selection and operation of all CAD software and hardware.
  • Respond to, identify, and recommend solutions to manufacturing and quality problems.
  • Provide product information to other resources (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Tech. Services, etc.).

Key Qualifications:

  • A.S. Degree preferred, with at least 4 years of progressive experience in a related mechanical design field.
  • In lieu of degree, a minimum 4 years' experience in a design field without a formal education in a design related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Engineering design software.
  • Able to perform complex design drafting tasks via all standard drawing techniques with little or no supervision.
  • Highly proficient with 3D design software (e.g. Creo, SolidWorks) including sheet metal and surfacing.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of raw materials, including plastics, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Capable of using accepted formulas and manuals in making necessary computations to determine quantities of material to be used, load capacities, strengths, etc.
  • Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, CAD, ERP, etc.).
  • Able to read and use measuring devices.
  • Successfully complete all training required by the safety/training matrix within 6 months, or within time constraints set by governmental regulations.
  • Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required, by company policy, for the job being performed.
  • Have regulatory agency experience (UL, CE, NSF, ISO) preferred
  • Fluency in more than English; fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required
  • Computer use in an office environment. Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Occasional time spent walking out on the factory floor where the employee would be subjected to noise, heavy industrial equipment, and moving vehicles.

Compensation:
The hourly pay for this role is:$36.00 - 38.00/hr
