Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The mission of the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy (the School) is to prepare students for lifelong success in health careers by providing an excellent, student-centered learning environment. These efforts are assisted by linkages across the University of the Pacific (the University) professional and liberal arts programs. Assistant Clinical Professor, Program Manager, Patient Care Clinics is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment at University of the Pacific, Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy. The faculty serves as a member in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and is eligible for annual reappointment.

The primary responsibilities of this position will be to help create and maintain the infrastructure for a community-based program targeting individuals with pre-diabetes/diabetes. This faculty will provide program oversight, coordination, and training opportunities for pharmacy students and other health care professionals/students. This faculty will also be expected to teach and/or precept pharmacy students in medication therapy management, diabetes, immunizations and cardiovascular care. In addition, this faculty will be expected to be heavily involved with health clinics/fairs and related service activities in/around the Stockton community. The faculty will be responsible for working alongside other community partners and organizations and this position requires oversight of data collection/management for the programs. Other faculty responsibilities will be assigned, as needed, at the discretion of the Program Director of the Patient Care Clinics. The Non-Tenure Track role will be hired as an annual renewable contract.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in California
  • A Pharm.D. with residency and/or fellowship, or equivalent experience is required
  • A strong background in general pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice is required.

Preferred Qualifications
A strong background in general pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice is required. High priority areas of expertise include diabetes, immunizations, cardiovascular therapeutics, ambulatory care/clinical pharmacy, and medication therapy management. Research, public health, and biostatistics knowledge/experience is desirable. Postgraduate training (e.g., residency or fellowship), previous teaching experience, extensive community outreach and relevant practice experience is highly desirable. Fluency in another language is desirable.

Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Able to work in a typical clinical environment. Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

Hiring Range $115,000 - $125,000 per year (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.)
