Electrical Controls Engineer



Join a team where advanced automation meets hands-on engineering. We're looking for an experienced and driven Electrical Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, and maintenance of control systems in a fast-paced aluminum die casting environment.


What You'll Do:
Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems for casting, CNC, and support equipment
Optimize control logic to improve cycle times, product quality, and system efficiency
Configure and maintain industrial networks, including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus
Diagnose and resolve issues with sensors, drives, PLCs, and HMI systems
Support maintenance teams and lead root cause analysis for recurring automation faults
Analyze automation data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements
Collaborate with engineering on machine sequencing and safety logic enhancements
Lead automation projects from design and schematics through installation and commissioning
Maintain accurate PLC/HMI code, schematics, and panel documentation
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 79/70E, NEC, and UL508A standards
What You Bring:

Required Skills & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years in automation or controls within a manufacturing setting
  • Proficient in Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms
  • Skilled in HMI/SCADA development and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of VFDs, servos, and industrial control panels
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics and automation systems


Preferred Extras



  • Experience in aluminum die casting or heavy industrial manufacturing
  • Familiarity with vision systems and process monitoring tools
  • Exposure to IIoT, predictive maintenance, and Industry 4.0 technologies
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar software
  • Robotics experience (Fanuc, ABB, etc.) is a strong plus
