Job Title: Community Outreach Coordinator/Community Outreach Specialist (Disability Rights) Pay rate: $27.00/hr. on w2 without benefits Location: 2 Cherry Dale Court Cranston 02920 Duration: 12+ Months Roles and Responsibilities: Under the Supervision of the Executive Secretary and ADA Program Manager, the ADA Project Specialist will expand the outreach of the Commission through presentations, attending events, and forming relationships with other organizations. After training, this position will also assist in monitoring physical accessibility through on-site visits and architectural plan reviews (training provided). Promote information in the community about disability rights under state and federal law and the work of the Commission Provide online and in-person training to government, non-profit, and public entities about disability rights Inform the GCD coworkers of feedback from the community Assist in Social Media postings and newsletter Review building plans submitted to the Commission for ADA compliance review Required Skills: Disability Rights Strong communication skills. The ability to work well with the office staff and the public. Familiarity with MS Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Ability to travel within the state. The ability to process and analyze visual information. A strong commitment to civil rights. Spanish-speaking applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Required work Experience: The eligible candidate must have completed college or equivalent. The candidate must have at least one year working or volunteering with a human services organization.
