Project Economic Controller

What you'll do:

The individual serves as the business partner for the Program Economic Manager (PEM) and Chief Vehicle Engineer (CVE), working very closely with all Engineering Functions and Manufacturing to manage and control the assigned programs spending (R&D, Manufacturing CAPEX and Supplier Tooling), ensuring the yearly and total program budget are met as well as identifying optimization / calendarization opportunities with the PEM and CVE support, contributing for the regional target compensation. Includes ownership of reporting and tracking of budgeted, actual, and forecast spending for approved programs.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Builds the annual/ pluriannual budget / forecast and updates the Risks and Opportunities portfolio for expenses with Project Economic Manager
  • Establishes multi-year spending controlling and view as well as needed splits (annual, by project, by function, region, actuals, commitments and to be committed)
  • Monitors monthly actuals spending under his/her responsibility (make/buy investments and R&D) and consolidate all P2P variance explanations
  • Synthesizes the global spending of the project by adding FTE and validation means (lead by Planning Manager)
  • Roadmap: Keep CY forecast updated according to actuals and replanning the remaining spending, managing the project lifetime budgeting
  • Manages action plans with all stakeholders (Purchasing, Engineering) to meet annual/monthly forecast
  • Controls and validates spending workflows (R&D + investments)
  • Approve R&D Requisitions according to DoA and according to the annual targets
  • Scope includes SAP asset information and UDA approval with accounting requirements
  • Create/Enhance detailed process documentation for all aspects of role and identify opportunities for improvement / workload reduction
  • Develop and execute new processes and contribute to automating workload systems to reduce timing
  • Structure, engage and conduce key RD Controlling projects
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Program Financial Management.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and other relevant regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, preferrable in accounting, business or finance.

Minimum of 8 years of Finance / Controlling or Accounting experience, with the ability to forecast, and report actuals through the monthly close process, financial and managerial view, global consolidation.

Project Management or RD CAPEX controlling as well as Automotive industry experience is a differential.

Comprehensive knowledge of SAP, Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.

Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with / present to executive management and present a point-of-view with facts

Strong attention to detail, ability to question items, investigate /analyze independently, propose solutions to management, and manage multiple priorities / work-streams
