Summary of Job Duties:This position is responsible for day-to-day operations, including the management of human resources, finances, clinical services, and all other functions related to delivering quality patient care within the CNL. The Cardiac Non-Invasive Laboratory (CNL) Manager works under the direction of the CNL Medical Director and Cardiovascular Service Line Administration. In addition, the CNL manager serves as the technical director of echocardiography and meets all IAC requirements necessary to fulfill that role. Ensures technical quality of echocardiography services through continued sonographer training and skill development. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Science - Radiology Plus Certifications in echocardiography, such as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from ARDMS, OR Registered cardiac sonographer (RCS) from CCI OR Advanced cardiac sonographer (ACS) from CCI

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a cardiac sonographer

  • State of Arkansas Radiography license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role in exercise stress testing

Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight that ensures processes for hiring, training, developing, and evaluating cardiac sonography staff to yield a highly competent workforce.

  • Provides accurate documentation regarding staff performance with follow-up on staff concerns or disciplinary process.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies and hospital policies and procedures.

  • Provides feedback privately and constructively.

  • Informs CNL Medical Director and CVSL Administration of changing patterns of care needs that will affect the CNL or patients.

  • Role models positive behavior at all times, including during periods of change/stress.

  • Identifies problems impacting the effectiveness of care and develops and/or recommends solutions

  • Interviews and hires qualified staff.

  • Fosters an environment in the CNL that enhances productivity.

  • Obligated to balanced scorecard outcomes that will include targets for patient satisfaction, clinical metrics, employee satisfaction, and workforce indicators (turnover, vacancy, advancement).

  • Carries CNL access cellphone during working hours to ensure timely access to echocardiography in the clinic and hospital.

  • Works with CNL medical director and CVSL leadership to expand echocardiography services, including outreach outside UAMS Little Rock campus

  • Creates and/or coordinates sonographer and CNL RN schedules to align staffing with service needs and demands (in conjunction with CNL access co-ordinator).

  • Liaises with the director of the UAMS diagnostic sonography program to ensure a quality learning environment for sonography students.

  • Ensures a cordial learning environment for all trainees who rotate through the CNL.

  • Coordinates CNL participation in approved research protocols.

  • In conjunction with the CNL Medical Director, implements and maintains processes to ensure ICAEL accreditation.

  • Ensures ongoing department performance, quality assessment, and process improvement activities.

  • Creates work processes to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce waste.

  • Cardiovascular Sonography

  • Performs cardiac sonography services and procedures

  • Functions as an expert resource for other cardiac sonographers.

  • Professional Development

  • Pursues professional development activities to ensure to stay current on present management and cardiac sonography practices and health care trends.

  • Maintains all board certification and CME requirements required to serve as the technical director of an IAC-certified lab

  • Other Duties as Assigned
