SUMMARY The Specialist - IE (Instrument) is responsible for identifying and implementing methods to improve reliability of Instrumentation and Electrical Systems throughout the site with primary focus on instrumentation. The Specialist makes improvements in preventative and predictive maintenance to improve reliability and maintenance effectiveness. The Specialist manages the classification of instruments into criticality rankings and ensures maintenance and inspection plans are aligned with equipment criticality. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following: * Support and drive accident prevention and environmental excellence. * Support the development of Instrument Calibration database and use of documenting calibrators * Assist with Meridium documentation management and training * Investigate chronic failures in instrumentation equipment and make recommendations for long-term solutions * Assist in management of Instrumentation spare parts and revisions to warehouse stock. Evaluate stock periodically for updating and improvements * Review data from instrumentation PM's to evaluate and optimize PM frequencies. Assist in developing PM documentation forms and procedures * Support management of control valve repairs, materials and reporting * Support Operations and Maintenance in requests for information and minor instrumentation changes * Support instrumentation reliability improvement projects * Develop new and improve existing instrumentation maintenance procedures * Provide maintenance input on new projects * Support operations during unit startups, shutdowns, and runtime * Assist as needed with development of Instrumentation Training Programs * Support implementation of instrument and control valve Asset Management Systems (AMS). Develop processes for utilization, support upgrades, and provide training to instrumentation personnel * Develop and track critical care plans for instrumentation classified as Criticality Ranking A and B * Provide assistance to Instrument Engineers on reliability efforts and projects * Review instrumentation entries in shift logs to identify areas needing follow-up and report to engineers and supervision * Support ISO compliance efforts, audits, and documentation for quality critical equipment EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum of 5 years of Instrument Maintenance experience. Diploma/Degree in the appropriate discipline desirable. * Previous experience in industrial plant facilities with knowledge of maintenance, planning and scheduling requirements * Experience with MS Office and experience with SAP preferred or similar program * Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Maintenance/Scheduling and Engineering department, managers, supervisors and crafts persons * Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work. * A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
