How you will make an impact

The Principal Engineer 1, Information Technology is responsible for cybersecurity engineering design, implementation, and maintenance of robust IT infrastructure and security solutions. This role combines deep infrastructure expertise with a strategic understanding of cybersecurity principles to ensure Halozyme systems are secure, scalable, and resilient.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level infrastructure systems (servers, networks, storage, virtualization, cloud, etc.)

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations

  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls aligned with best practices (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001)

  • Lead vulnerability management, patching, and endpoint protection across the organization

  • Engineer and support secure network solutions including firewalls, VPNs, SASE, and zero-trust architectures

  • Support, maintain, and optimize security platforms for identity and access management, network threat detection, vulnerability management, email security, and data governance and compliance

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services and Entra ID, including identity and access management, and conditional access policies

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, configurations, standard operating procedures, and technical workflows

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with at least 12 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering roles (An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)

  • Experience with SIEM tools, identity and access management, and endpoint protection

  • Experience managing and supporting enterprise security platforms for network threat detection, vulnerability management, email security, and data governance and compliance

  • Proficiency in scripting or automation

  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, or ISO 27001

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills with the ability to assess complex problems, anticipate risks, and develop long-term infrastructure and security solutions

  • Prior experience working in regulated environments with SOX, cGxP, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant systems is strongly preferred

The most likely base pay range for this position is $143K - $200K per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual's exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
