Job Title: Payroll Specialist Iron

Location(s): Iron Mountain, MI

Overview:


  • The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of payroll tasks. This includes processing payroll and analyzing reports according to established schedules. Maintaining all data required for legal, tax or audit purposes according to established department processes. Responsibilities also include handling service inquiries from employees, managers, and business-unit stakeholders to provide information and resolve issues.


Responsibilities:


  • Process weekly payroll for union employees (600+).
  • Create upload file for retirement plan and HSA contributions.
  • Perform accurate and timely entry of job, salary, and personal data.
  • Maintain and update multiple Excel Workbooks used in payroll processing.
  • Manage entry and payment of garnishments.
  • Analyze and resolve data discrepancies between the payroll database and employee inquiries
  • Comply with all audit requirements and internal control standards for supporting documentation and accuracy.
  • Provide employee support regarding personnel records, time input, and earnings, deductions, and tax
  • Ensure confidentiality, data privacy, data security and SOX requirements are met at all times.


Experience:


  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience. Preferably end-to-end processing experience.


Skills:


  • Flawless attention to detail and exceptional data entry.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication Skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be comfortable and skilled at working effectively in an interdependent team environment that is dynamic, fast-paced, and deadline-driven.
  • Exceptional time management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask; able to balance competing priorities.
  • Previous experience with a union payroll preferred.
  • Integrity and trustworthiness specific to confidentiality and privacy of employee information; absolute confidentiality of all payroll records.
