Client Services Representative (BLANK AST 2)

Under general supervision, provide support for clinicians and students in the Veterinary Medical Center - San Diego (UCVMC-SD) by serving as the first point of contact; provide medical records support; schedule appointments a process medical records data for easy retrieval; collect payments for services; enter patient charges and collect payment from clients. Schedule appointment follow up and perform daily appointment reminders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Reception experience to answer phones, take accurate messages and assist clients.
• Experience with billing, cashiering and client services.
• Interpersonal communication and customer services skills to clearly and effectively interact with individuals of varying ages, cultural backgrounds, perspectives to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, make referrals, and interact with the general public in a helpful and positive manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using various programs and software for word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling, entry and retrieval of medical records, and database management programs.
• Experience working in a veterinary or medical environment.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy, and medical terminology to provide general information and make the appropriate referrals. This includes knowledge base for small animals and large animals.
• Knowledge of Procedures affecting services, clients, and confidentiality of records/client information.
• Knowledge of UCVMC-SD admissions, records, cashiering policies and procedures affecting services, clients, and confidentiality of records and information.
• Ability to learn the fundamental VMTH services and standards for admissions, records, billing, disease processes, scientific terms and processes.

Department Overview

The University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is expanding its veterinary specialty hospital in Southern California. The VMC-SC is a San Diego satellite specialty referral and 24-hour emergency hospital. This will expand the SVM's role in Southern California while providing clients and referring veterinarians with the highest level of customer care. Net income from this practice (which will be staffed by leading non-academic boarded specialists in surgery, internal medicine, critical care, and other specialties) will support the School of Veterinary Medicine's mission. This off-site clinical presence will also enable UC Davis to reach a broader base of clients and supporters and leverage the clinical, teaching, and research excellence at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in Davis, California. The facility will be a $30+M self-supporting enterprise critical to the School of Veterinary Medicine mission.
