REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Senior IT Engineer

LOCATION: Columbus, WI

SUMMARY: Secure, support, and maintain the company Infrastructure Technology systems. Provide 2nd Level support and maintain the company IT systems and users which include infrastructure, servers, email, phone system, video conference system, smart phones, laptops, desktop PC's and helpdesk. Participate in IT Infrastructure projects. Provide outstanding customer service to all customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Safeguard all computer systems and digital information by following company security procedures and information security best practices.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Minimize downtime of supported systems
  • Monitor usage and performance for peak efficiency.
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades as directed or necessary.
  • Create and maintain user accounts, shares, and permissions.
  • Be proficient with Active Directory and Group Policy administration.
  • Perform computer, server, network hardware, and software troubleshooting procedures to resolve issues.
  • Work during off hours and weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge in the following hardware, software and technologies or equivalent.
  • Windows Server OS and Active Directory
  • VMWare Server, Desktop, and VCenter
  • Office 365
  • Client Operating Systems
  • SQL Server Administration
  • Microsoft SCCM
  • Print Server support/ Network Printers
  • Nimble Storage server administration
  • HP Store Once and Veeam backups
  • Web systems ie. IIS, PKI, FTP
  • Mobile device support including smartphones and tablets.
  • Network Switch Configuration and management
  • Wireless Network Support and Configuration
  • Network firewall administration and management
  • VOIP Telephony
  • Wireless Bar Code devices
  • Monitor network infrastructure including Firewalls, Switches, Circuits, Servers
  • Provide professional support to internal customers responding to hardware and software issues.
  • Install and configure network servers and services.
  • Troubleshoot network problems.
  • Inspect/validate Backup procedures and perform restores as needed.
  • Work with your team members to provide support to the whole company.
  • Keep current on IT skills and trends.
  • Propose and Lead approved IT projects to achieve stated objectives and outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Time management for this role is expected to be:

  • 50% on supporting Service Desk tickets and IT Operations
  • 50% on IT Infrastructure Projects
Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science degree (BS) or equivalent from four-year college or University in Computer Science, Engineering, or STEM field; and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or multiple Microsoft/Google Certifications in relevant technology and process engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of Network Infrastructure, Server environments, Information Security, Backup processes, telecommunications and end user computing.

  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, shop floor, or production systems environments. Experience/understanding of platform, connectivity (i.e.: network, reporting, etc.) required to support a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating and working with all levels of internal business users.
  • Project Management

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, general users, and customers in public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasional travel may be required. Some travel may be required.
