Position Information

New Hanover County's Health department is seeking a customer focused Community Health Assistant who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment assisting health care professionals with medical exams in the clinic. Duties will include setting up exam rooms; taking and recording patient vital signs; performing vision and hearing tests; handling specimens; providing instructions to patients; retrieving and delivering lab report forms for staff professionals; chaperoning during male or female exams and assisting in the specialty clinics such as IUD, Colposcopy or Breast Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP). This position is also responsible for assisting with outreaches in the community; maintaining clinic supplies and equipment to include monitoring supply levels; stocking exam rooms with equipment and supplies; maintaining informational displays for clients; and ordering materials as necessary. Hours:
Hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Salary Information:
The hiring range for this position is
$35,360 - $47,736.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of experience related to personal care; or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the specific position as listed above.

Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Driver License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant/Medical Assistant or prior experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant/Medical assistant.
