Watertown, SD

Join our team at Terex Utilities and embark on an exciting opportunity as we seek a skilled and dedicated R&D Technician to contribute to the Terex team in Watertown, SD.

As an R&D Technician at Terex, you will be responsible for Assembling and testing prototypes based on Engineering Design, Quality recommendations, or product improvement requests. You will also set up and perform tests per engineering request as well as assemble and install units per current standards.

What you'll do

  • Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean and organized R&D work area, enforce sound safety practices.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain all shop equipment.
  • Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of all manufactured product models.
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently and in a team, manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and adapt to shifting deadlines.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Electrical wiring, connections, and schematics (unit and install stages).
    • Hydraulic systems and schematics (unit and install stages).
  • * Testing & Documentation:
    • Review and document components after testing.
    • Provide clear test results (verbal, written, video, or pictures).
  • Process Improvement: Teach, develop, document, update, and improve production processes.
  • Specialized Testing: Install and test strain gauges and other test equipment for NPD quality projects.
  • Work Instructions: Follow written or verbal instructions independently.

What you'll bring

  • Education/Experience: 2 years of vocational training or 5 years in manufacturing
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge in Manufacturing, Hydraulics, and Electrical systems
  • Welding: Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Previous role requiring mechanical skills
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches
  • Safety: Strong safety mindset

    • Knowledge of strain gauge installation and wiring
    • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D design
    • 4G weld certification

The compensation range for this position is $25.00-$31.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
