Overview

Reporting to the project controls manager and project managers, this position is responsible to be a functional expert of project progress reporting, monitoring and collection of progress data for schedule, scope, costs and risk/contingency from all project disciplines. This role is responsible for overseeing cost monitoring and resource controls within defined standards and consistent practices. The position works closely with the project teams on the compilation, assessment and documentation of project costs and progress reporting required at various stages of the project.


Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for establishing cost and progress tracking and reporting on the projects including Transmission Lines, Substations, Distribution and Telecom projects.
  2. Develop new project controls reporting processes and implement changes as needed to reporting and progress tracking. Review and confirm outgoing reports for documentation and accuracy.
  3. Responsible for Earned Value Management system reporting.
  4. Identifying systemic issues within processes & tools. Developing corrective strategies to mitigate or eliminate issues.
  5. Identifying internal & industry best practices for cost/ schedule controls and applying to internal standards consistently within the workgroup.
  6. Integrating controls with scheduling staff and within the scheduling software like Primavera P6.
  7. Monitoring outgoing cost control data and reports to ensure they meet core internal criteria & consistency.
  8. Implementing approved cost control reports and information & core differences to management and project sponsors.
  9. Responsible for ensuring the correct application of internal databases & for establishing & evoking methodologies to update database & cost/ schedule control tools based on historical triggers.
  10. Analyze internal controls to identify trends in project forecasts. Support the project team by attending meetings and working collaboratively with others.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
  12. Follow and implement policies and procedures.
  13. Have excellent technical writing skills
  14. Support major storm restoration work as assigned.
  15. Follow all policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Accounting or related field.
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Project Cost Control and management training and experience would be considered an asset. Additional Professional Certifications in Cost Management are preferred.

Minimum 5 years related project cost controls experience is required. Electrical utility experience is preferred.

Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated communication skills to deal with internal/external clients
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check work
  • Primavera P6 scheduling basics
  • Must be skilled in developing, maintaining, and analyzing project risk reporting and software
  • Experience managing design and construction Utility Substation, Transmission and Distribution projects is desirable
  • Able to review contract documents/plans to develop schedules that coordinate with the client's risk reporting requirements
  • Skilled in reviewing contractor monthly reporting
  • Advanced Excel, MS Project, Power BI and Software reporting experience.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $72,000.00 - USD $85,000.00 /Yr.
