Job Title: Paralegal ( Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies Must )

Location: Hamilton, NJ 08619

Pay Rate: $24.00/hr. on W2 without benefits

Shifts Timing: Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm OR 8:30 am-5:00 pm

Duration: 12+months

Job Description:

  • Conduct legal research and analyze areas of concern related to OPG's responsibilities.
  • Assist in drafting memoranda, pleadings, and correspondence to agencies, courts, and other parties.
  • Prepare formal legal documents, including complaints, motions, interrogatories, and other court-related filings.
  • Conduct reviews of legal decisions and evaluate their relevance or precedential value.
  • Proofread legal documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Organize and maintain legal information and records for accessibility and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to provide legal support, including estate administration and interactions with New Jersey Surrogate and County Courts.
  • Draft responses to citizen inquiries and correspondence.
  • Provide guidance to clerical staff regarding legal documentation and processes.
  • Utilize electronic and manual systems for document management and recordkeeping.


Required Education:

  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or as a Legal Assistant from an accredited college or university.
  • OR an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a Certificate of Proficiency in Paralegal Studies.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with estate management and administration.
  • Familiarity with legal technology and document management systems.


Experience:

  • Previous paralegal experience in a law firm, legal department, or public/private organization focused on legal research, enforcement, litigation, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in drafting pleadings and legal documents.
  • Experience in estate management and familiarity with New Jersey Surrogate and County Courts is required.


License:

  • Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.


Knowledge and Ability:

  • Knowledge of fundamental legal principles and procedures.
  • Ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey statutes, regulations, and court procedures.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to interpret legal publications, laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic information systems and legal databases.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and take direction from attorneys.
