About this Role - Safety Manager

We are looking for a talented Safety Manager that has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for the oversight, administration, leadership, and management of a comprehensive safety management system in support of the Minnesota Energy Connection (MNEC) utility electrical construction work and other MJE Western Operations pursuits.

What You'll Do

- Provides oversight and support to project and Western Operations Field Safety & Health Coordinators

- Works to support project and operations leadership in incident investigations, tap root reporting, sharing of lessons learned, and communication across all regions

- Works to support project and operations leadership to develop, implement and monitor annual comprehensive Safety and DOT Compliance Plans

- Monitors Regional Safety Steering Safety Meetings to ensure they are timely completed, and items noted are reviewed and completed

- Work with project and Western Operational & Safety leadership to ensure each project has the appropriate safety coverage to support operations

- Develops and monitors MNEC and other major project safety metrics and scorecards. Identifies deficiencies and takes appropriate corrective action

- Works to support project and Western Operations leadership in preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support to project and discipline Safety Coordinators in implementing these policies and procedures on the MNEC and other major projects.

- Monitors, tracks, and trends MNEC and major projects safety assessments and training

- Assists in the activities of the safety committee by providing technical and administrative support

- Provides safety and DOT technical support and education for supervisors and employees. Provides feedback to encourage learning

- Works with project and discipline Safety Coordinators to promote proactive and preventive safety activities across all work disciplines by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors, and correcting unsafe conditions

- Works with project and discipline Safety Coordinators to integrate safety into project plans by establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety and DOT policies and procedures.

- Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety and DOT improvement

- Ensures that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met

- Works closely with the Quanta Corporate Safety in support of safety initiatives, training, compliance, consultation, best practices, lessons learned and driving improvements

- Travel will be a requirement for this position

What You'll Bring

- Strong persuasive skills in dealing with top management and with line managers and supervisors

- Ability to organize safety and occupational health material into lesson plans and present the material to managers and safety committee effectively

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

- Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs

- Ability to work with IBEW union and craft personnel

- Proven communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

- Ability to maintain confidentiality

- Demonstrated supervisory skills

- BS/BA in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

- 10+ years occupational safety and health experience in a utility construction environment preferably in a leadership/supervisory role

- 10+ years' experience occupational safety in a utility environment preferably in a leadership role
