About the Position: The Multimedia Team Lead will lead and manage the team's photo and video operations, overseeing all aspects of equipment, staff support, project management, and reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality visual content, efficient workflows, and a collaborative, accountable team culture. The Multimedia Team Lead will also serve as a key trainer, mentor, and project manager, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and develop the photo/video staff, including conducting training, onboarding, staff meetings, and performance reviews;
- Serve as the main project manager for video and photo requests, overseeing project timelines, deliverables, and communication with stakeholders;
- Act as a backup photo/video staff member as needed, stepping in to ensure project continuity;
- Collaborate closely with the team scheduler to coordinate staffing for incoming requests, assigning staff to projects, and balancing workloads;
- Manage and maintain all photo and video equipment, ensuring secure storage, inventory tracking, and a clear system for team access and usage;
- Oversee and manage the digital asset management database for all photos and videos, ensuring assets are properly archived, organized, and easily accessible for team and campus use;
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all divisional photo and video needs, responding promptly to requests and providing expert guidance on project execution;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with divisional stakeholders and other campus photo/video staff to foster collaboration, share resources, and ensure alignment with university branding and messaging;
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of campus locations, identifying the best spots for filming, headshots, and photography based on project requirements, lighting conditions, weather, and seasonal changes to ensure optimal results;
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the photo/video team, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals;
- Develop and implement systems of accountability, including policies for equipment use, project deadlines, and staff discipline;
- Create and review scripts and storyboards for video projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and visual storytelling best practices;
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in multimedia production, recommending upgrades or process improvements as needed; and
- Foster a positive, collaborative team culture that emphasizes professional development, recognition, and open feedback.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in photography and videography shooting, editing, and post-production using industry-standard equipment and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Photoshop);
- Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia production best practices, including lighting, sound, composition, and visual storytelling;
- Experience leading, training, and mentoring a creative team, with a track record of building accountability and positive team dynamics;
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and resolve production or personnel challenges;
- Demonstrated project management abilities, including scoping, scheduling, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication;
- Ability to develop scripts and storyboards and guide the creative process from concept to final delivery;
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across departments and with diverse stakeholders;
- Ability to set up and manage systems of accountability, including clear policies for equipment use and staff discipline; and
- Ability to meet with clients or internal stakeholders to clarify project goals, gather feedback, and ensure satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with KPI tracking, reporting, and process improvement in a creative or production environment;
- Experience implementing and/or managing systems for archiving and retrieving digital assets (photos, videos, graphics);
- Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design or animation to support multimedia projects;
- Experience in collaborating with marketing or social media teams to optimize visual content for various platforms; and
- Ability to encourage and facilitate ongoing learning opportunities for team members, including workshops or certifications.
