JOB OBJECTIVE: The Director of Technology & Product Delivery plays a crucial role in driving the digital transformation of an insurance company, ensuring that technology enhances both operational efficiency and the customer experience across personal lines & commercial lines products. This position involves leading and overseeing the technology strategy, development, and implementation of insurance products along with driving digital transformation to enable operational efficiency and customer experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the development and execution of the technology strategy for personal lines, commercial lines, or other shared services in close collaboration with business leaders.
- Align technology initiatives with overall business goals and objectives, ensuring that technology drives growth and improves operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand business needs and translate them into technology solutions.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of core systems, applications, and platforms used for underwriting, policy management, billing, and customer service in personal lines.
- Ensure high-quality delivery with integrations and onboarding of new technologies, automation, and data analytics to improve business processes.
- Stay updated with the latest technological trends in the insurance industry and ensure the company is leveraging emerging technologies.
- Lead and manage multiple product teams responsible for production support, enhancements and projects.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture to drive continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop talent within the team to enhance skills and promote career growth.
- Manage relationships with third-party technology vendors and service providers.
- Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts related to external software and technology tools.
- Manage the technology budget for technology and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently.
- Monitor project timelines, costs, and risks to ensure the successful and timely delivery of technology projects.
- Ensure that the technology complies with relevant regulations, including data privacy laws and industry-specific standards.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any regulatory challenges related to technology.
- Work closely with the customer experience and digital teams to enhance the customer journey, using technology to create seamless and personalized interactions for policyholders.
- Use data and analytics to understand customer behavior and improve product offerings.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of innovation within the personal lines technology team to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and deliver better customer outcomes.
- Explore new technologies that can enhance product offerings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Typically, 10+ years of experience in the technology or insurance industry, with a proven track record in managing large-scale technology initiatives.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
- In-depth understanding of the P&C insurance industry, especially personal lines (auto, home, renters, etc.).
- Expertise in core systems for the insurance industry (Guidewire PC, BC and CC to enable operations of underwriting systems, policy management systems, claims platforms), as well as emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and automation.
- Ability to analyze complex business problems and design scalable, effective technology solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, as the role requires collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, Master's in Technology) is preferred.
