Job Summary

The Chief APP is a strategic leader responsible for the comprehensive oversight, advancement, and optimization of APP roles across Prisma Health. This position provides operational, clinical, and financial leadership for APPs, driving initiatives to enhance clinical integration, workforce readiness, and organizational success. The role collaborates closely with executive leadership, clinical and administrative leaders, and external stakeholders to position APPs as critical contributors to Prisma Health mission and vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the vision, strategy, and goals for APP programs across Prisma Health
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate APPs into care delivery models and strategic initiatives.
  • Represent Prisma Health in state and national forums, advocating for APP roles and ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide operational support and workforce readiness planning for APPs across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Lead efforts to develop, standardize, and implement policies, procedures, and scope of practice guidelines for APPs.
  • Partner with institutes, care divisions, and departments to align APP practice models with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care by APPs in all clinical settings.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to optimize APP utilization and improve care delivery models.
  • Maintain clinical certification and licensure to provide insight into practice trends and inform leadership decisions.
  • Collaborate with medical group leaders to develop and manage APP compensation structures, including base salary, retention, and incentive plans.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial planning for APP initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build a sustainable and diverse APP workforce.
  • Develop and implement educational and professional development programs, including mentorship, career ladders, accredited fellowships and leadership training for APPs.
  • Manage affiliations with APP educational institutions and coordinate clinical rotations for students.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging among APPs.
  • Serve as a liaison between APPs, physicians, administration, and external organizations.
  • Chair or co-chair advisory committees to facilitate APP engagement and communication with leadership.
  • Advocate for APPs within the organization, promoting recognition of their contributions and addressing practice barriers.
  • Ensure APPs operate in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Analyze changes in healthcare legislation and accreditation standards, providing recommendations to executive leadership.

Educational and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), Physician Assistant (PA), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
  • Master's degree in healthcare management, business administration, or related field preferred; DNP or equivalent experience desirable.
  • Minimum of 5years of experience as an APP, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of APP scope of practice, reimbursement regulations, and healthcare delivery systems.
