**This is a remote opportunity based out of any city/state in the U.S.**

About the role

Working remotely or at one of our offices located across the country, you will report directly to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Litigation (based in New York) and will work closely with other members of the legal and risk management teams throughout North America.

What you bring

  • JD or LL.B from an accredited law school and a member of at least one State Bar in good standing

  • 1-4 years litigation experience: in-house experience is a plus; preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge in one or more areas preferred, but not required: real estate agreements and transactions, labor and employment, tort law.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle a variety of priority projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service at all levels of the organization and with external partners.

  • Possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications CMS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

What success looks like

  • Assist with handling disputes and legal claims across North America, including the provision of preliminary advice, drafting of initial correspondence, coordination of local litigation counsel and oversight of any proceedings as they progress. Responsibilities will include sole carriage of a variety of matters including fee disputes, tort claims and employment/labour matters.

  • Manage external counsel to ensure budget and service expectations are maintained.

  • Work closely with internal insurance team members and insurance carriers on any claims for which coverage may be available.

  • Liaise with appropriate internal personnel to obtain all relevant information relating to ongoing matters.

  • Maintain an internal tracking database of ongoing claims, including status of proceedings and budget tracking.

  • Remain current on key relevant areas of law that may impact litigation risk and work with appropriate internal resources to identify any risk mitigation opportunities.

  • Oversee special research projects from time to time upon request.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Approximate Salary Range for this Role: $90,000 to $115,000 per annum

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Benefits

Employees (and their families) are provided options for employer subsidized medical benefits including RX, dental, vision as well as employer paid basic life/AD&D insurance and short-term / long-term disability. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes an employer match. Employees will also receive 10 days of sick leave and a minimum of 15-days vacation annually. Certain senior-level roles are eligible for unlimited time off. Employees will also enjoy 10 paid holidays plus two personal flex days throughout the calendar year. Twelve weeks (for birth parents) and 4 weeks (for non-birth parents, including adoptive/foster parents) for paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of 90 days of employment.Individuals may be eligible for different or additional benefits under applicable state law.

Bonus

This position is eligible for an annual bonus, based on company and individual performance.
