Mechanical Electrical Technician, Bethlehem, PA - 1st Shift GENERAL SUMMARY: This position provides hands on mechanical support for the operation, repair, and maintenance, preventative maintenance of all manufacturing equipment and systems including processes. This position is a key resource for equipment and system troubleshooting, equipment install, debug and commissioning to manufacturing. This position is responsible for being the technical resource for all manufacturing equipment training. This position will manage and coordinate outside contractors in support of equipment design changes. This position will be responsible to implement continuous improvement projects and reduce operation and maintenance costs. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs any mechanical work that is essential to the installation or repair of equipment in use in plant operations.
- Works with manufacturing mechanics and participate in team building and problem solving sessions to improve plant performance.
- Reads, follows and interprets all types of electrical and piping schematics, as well as blueprints, illustrated parts breakdown, etc. essential to the plan mfg. equipment.
- Develops layouts, cost estimates and schedules for installations along with operation of new equipment, as well as repair of existing plant equipment.
- Updates mechanical blueprints and lists as may be required to maintain, rebuild, install or revise any equipment required by the company.
- Repairs and rebuilds at least (6) six of the primary pieces of equipment through out the plant.
- Responsible for the direction, training and assist in scheduling of the maintenance team including the quality and quantity of work performed.
- Identifies and corrects or suggests methods or modifications to equipment to improve productivity.
- Attends training sessions or utilize other methods to acquire knowledge of various plant equipment or systems.
- Communicates and works closely with all team in each department and utilize their recommendations and assistance whenever possible in completing repairs.
- Complies with federal and state Hazardous Waste regulations including proper handling, storing, labeling, and familiarity with Crayola's Emergency Action
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree in a mechanical /electrical field (preferred) or 3 year Vocational-Technical Trade School and High School Diploma/GED (required) with a minimum five (5) years of mechanical manufacturing support experience in high-speed process/ packaging equipment or (5) years combined mechanical manufacturing support experience and Mechanical/Electrical education or successful completion of the Crayola's Technical Apprenticeship program - 2nd
- Must be proficient in at least 4 of the following skills: welding, machining, pipe fitting, plumbing, metal fabrication, HVAC, PLC editing/troubleshooting, industrial electricity.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems of a simple nature that would enable them to identify faulty components such as: motors, fuses, heaters, limit switches, electrical motor clutches and brakes etc.
- Basic knowledge of electrical controls and PLCs.
- Must have knowledge of fluid power systems and their components.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and overhaul gear reducers, pumps, transmission clutch, pumps and compressors.
- Working knowledge and ability to calculate, cut threads, valve, fit weld and install steam, pneumatic, vacuum, water or hydraulic systems from pipe tubing to schedule 80 piping, 1/2" to 3" size.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
