How You Will Contribute:

We are seeking an experienced Product Line Manager to join Ciena's Broadband Access PLM organization to define and drive the delivery of our next-generation cross-portfolio solutions, with a focus on Residential Broadband & Connected Home applications and products. A strong understanding of market requirements will be leveraged to convey customer and overall market priorities to corresponding product teams. The position will define and architect network solutions involving hardware & software products from across Ciena's portfolio, as well as 3rd party products. This will involve cross-functional coordination and alignment with other internal groups as well as external groups to "champion" network solutions through implementation and deployment. As part of this process, the Broadband Access Solution Product Manager will define solution requirements, network architecture details, guide solution validation testing, and influence roadmaps across Ciena's portfolio. The candidate must possess a balance of very strong technical skills, market knowledge, and business acumen. Excellent verbal and written skills are required for interaction with customers as well as various internal groups. In-depth knowledge of market trends and applications as well as networking/telecom technologies and standards is required.

The Must Haves:

  • This solution PLM role will focus on the connected home & residential broadband space including applications such as triple play / IPTV, virtual Broadband Network Gateway (vBNG) , managed WiFi, and PON / broadband access
  • Position will take a lead in engagements with sales teams and customers to position Ciena solutions for successful market growth in broadband access globally. Act in a consultative and influential way, leveraging subject matter expertise, to position Ciena solutions as the preferred approach to service delivery and network architecture relative to competitive alternatives.
  • Identify and define new solutions focused on residential broadband space including value proposition, customer application, products involved, key features & technologies, roadmap requirements, interoperability requirements and projected market / revenue opportunity.
  • Define and architect network solutions that will involve products from across Ciena's portfolio as well as 3rd party products. Define the solution architectures in sufficient detail to enable successful development, integration, and deployment of the solution.
  • Coordinate and align representatives from various components of solution to achieve a common set of objectives.
  • Responsibility for the solution lifecycle from concept to go-to-market. Act as a "champion" for solution and coordinate / align development with groups both internal to Ciena (PLM, Strategy, Marketing, etc) and with partner organizations and integrators.
  • Assist product teams in setting priorities for product enhancements based on customer demand, general market demand, technology trends, and competitive analysis
  • Leverage product/solution subject matter expertise to convey solution benefits and positioning to customers, marketing and sales.
  • Provide education & knowledge transfer in support of marketing efforts to generate solution collateral such as presentations, white papers, and solution guides.:
  • BS in engineering, computer science or equivalent with 8 years or more experience in product management, technical pre-sales, or similar role the networking industry
  • Application and architecture knowledge and expertise across multiple growth areas is strongly desired: Residential Broadband, FTTx PON, WiFi, Cloud-based management, advanced Residential Gateway services, 4G/5G Wireless, Edge Cloud, Enterprise SD-WAN
  • Experience with IP/SR/MPLS/Ethernet/VXLAN and related network switching & routing products and technologies
  • Subject matter expertise with IETF, Broadband Forum, IEEE and MEF standards as they pertain to Broadband Access, including
  • IETF IP, MPLS, Segment Routing protocols and services such as IP VPNs, EVPNs, VPLS/VPWS
  • Broadband Forum standards such as TR-124, TR-181, TR-369, TR-459, TR-456, TR-470, and more
  • Ethernet protocols and services including MEF services, Ethernet OAM, FlexE, Ethernet protection, etc
  • Knowledge of SDN concepts such as centralized control, path computation, provisioning, Netconf/YANG, and APIs is desired
  • Knowledge of NFV orchestration concepts including virtualization and disaggregation, NFVI infrastructure, VNF management and service chaining, and integration with cloud management platforms is desired
  • Basic knowledge/awareness of optical networking concepts and technologies such as coherent DWDM, ROADMs, OTN and photonic switching
  • Professional who takes ownership of problems from beginning to end
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Willingness to travel

The annual pay range for this position is $137,800 - $220,200 USD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
